First day out in Newport, RI

Hey all,

team arrived yesterday in Newport, RI, gearing up for the race in a weeks time. We've had our first productive day in the shop kindly lent to us by Sail Newport, preping the boat for its first sail outside the UK.

We opened the trailer as soon as we arrived and were relieved to find Invictus unharmed from her trip across The Pond. The platform came together pretty quickly and without any glitches. It's nice to think that for once we won't have to dismantle it in a few days. We followed with some tweaks and fine tuning to the wing, leftovers from our job list back in the UK.

All we have left to do is a bit of skinning on our lower element 1 and we should be out sailing tomorrow by about mid-day.

This is the perfect start to our campaign here in-da-USA! Everybody has been kind to us so far and it makes the experience even more enjoyable. We finished the day with a few beers and a nice diner... although I have to say, the chicken wings are pretty fiery around here... as will the below picture of Olivia attest!!!

We'll keep you posted on our progress.

Cheers for now,
Juls.
