First Race

What an eventful day!
After 2 days of postponement due to strong winds, the boats finally saw the water today. The first race saw 3 out of the 6 boats eliminated as the wind was blowing 16-20 kts; this includes Steve Clarke’s Aethon/Cogito, which was obliterated when the boat capsized in the first leg, as well as the Canadian Orion and the French Patient Lady VI which bailed out due to boat failures. The French, however, recovered within the hour and joined the other two races of the day. Invictus also encountered some difficulties today, with one trapeze line failing and the port dagger board snapping after the boat hit the start mark. The Canadian Canaan and Australian Alpha were fighting for the lead until the last second of the first 3 lap race. The following two races also saw Alpha and Canaan leading far ahead. Overall, Invictus has come in third of the day, finishing 3rd, 4th, 3rd. The repairs are being performed over-night and hopefully all five boats will be out again in the morning. Keep on watching and supporting! It was also good meeting so many of you over the last few days, exchanging ideas and dreaming up new concepts for the future.
