New element 2 - workshop day 1

A productive day in the workshop!

We've spent some time Saturday laying up a new element 2 for the wing - this is the flexible section between the main element and the flap. This had been planned for some time and since the boat is off the water this weekend, it was the ideal opportunity.

The new design incorporates a new layup and modified stiffeners. A scaled version has been tested and the design should resolve some of the problems we have seen on the current element (waviness and non-uniform deflections along the wing). It all looks very sleek, so let's hope we get a bit of a performance improvement from this.

At the end of the day, the element 2 skin and one of the stringers were bagged. There will be more to do tomorrow and next week. We'll keep you updated on progress!
